Hardy Amies blazer in a fine tan-brown-grey check pattern. Notched lapels with fine under-lining. Three buttons on the front, three cuff buttons on each sleeve. Three front pockets – one lower on each side, one at the left breast. Fully lined, with three interior pockets, two at breast, one lower on left. No rear vent. 65% polyester, 35% wool. Made in Philippines.

Sir Edwin Hardy Amies was born July 17, 1909 in London, England. A skilled writer and student of languages, he got into the fashion business (at age 25) because he wrote such a good description of a piece of clothing. In 1946 (after serving in WWII), he opened Hardy Amies Ltd. on London’s Saville Row. Amies wrote a column for Esquire Magazine, is credited for staging the first ever runway show for men’s ready-to-wear (1961 – also the first time music was used for a runway show), for dressing Queen Elizabeth II, and for designing the clothing for Stanley Kubrick’s epic movie, 2001: A Space Odyssey (1967).
