Jil Sander (born Heidemarie Jiline Sander) is one of the world’s leading designers, known for her minimalist “luxe and less” style. She founded the Jil Sander label in 1968 in Hamburg, Germany. The company grew (“Sander was a key force behind the sea change in women’s fashion in the 80s and 90s” –Vogue), and, in 1999, the Prada Group bought a 75% share. Since then, Jil Sander has worked off and on with the label she founded, with Milan Vukmirovic (2000-03) and Raf Simons (2005-12) also having creative control.
