Fun and fashion collide in this cartoon print dress by Love Moschino. The body of the dress is a cartoon depicting a woman who’s been on a fabulous Moschino shopping spree. The top and bottom of the dress are a leopard-skin print. Two red stripes separate the cartoon from the leopard-skin, and add a great color dimension to the tan-apricot, brown, ivory, and black that make up much of the garment. The light-weight chiffon fabric and short sleeves make this a great summer dress. The material tag has been removed. Fully lined.

Franco Moschino was one of the more interesting characters in fashion. Personalities from Princess Diana to Dita Von Teese have worn his clothing. He was often called a rebel, but his sense of humor, his devotion to causes he believed in, and his talent for design, gave heart and soul to his work and to his life. “As a boy, Moschino would go to his father’s iron foundry and create images in the dust on the walls. He went on to study art…” (The Fashion Book) In 1971, he began working as an illustrator for Gianni Versace. He left Versace in 1977 and worked with Karl Lagerfeld. Then, in 1983, he launched his Moschino brand. The Moschino Cheap & Chic label began in 1988. In 2008, Moschino Jeans is renamed Love Moschino. He was known for making fun of ‘serious’ fashion, and once embroidered “Waist of Money” in the place of a belt on one of his jackets. He decided to stop having runway shows in 1991 and rather debut his new designs in private showings. Franco Moschino died on September 18, 1994, of complications resulting from AIDS.
