Dark denim shorts by Alexander McQueen. Fastens with a front zipper and button, the button engraved with “Alexander McQueen” and the designer’s logo (see photo). Two front pockets – one with an inset coin pocket, and two back pockets. Each leg opening is ringed with fringe. There is a criss-cross draw-string effect on each side leg (see photos). Material is 98% cotton, 2% elastane. Made in Italy.

Alexander McQueen was the son of a cab driver and a school teacher. When he was a kid, he made dresses for his older sisters. When he was 16 he left school to be a tailor’s apprentice. After working in Italy (for Romeo Gigli), he went back to London and got a master’s degree in fashion design. McQueen gained fame quickly, doing high-profile work for celebrities , including David Bowie and Bjork. In 1996, he replaced John Galliano at Givenchy. In 2000, Gucci bought 51% of the Alexander McQueen label (McQueen continued as Creative Director). Alexander McQueen was British Designer of the Year four times (1996, 1997, 2001, 2003), and was CFDA International Designer of the Year in 2003.
