Rimless 729-S sunglasses by Byblos. The lenses – which have a slight wrap (see photos) – are a light plum color, with the semi-transparent arms adding more variation and complexity. The Byblos logo appears on a silver plate on each temple. These are a great balance of sporty and elegant. No case. Made in Italy.

In 1962, a company called Genny started selling handmade clothing in a small town in Italy (Ancona). Genny grew, and in 1973 a young Gianni Versace became the label’s designer. The same year, Genny launched a new division called Byblos, aimed at a younger market. Propelled by the genius of Versace, plus some other very talented young designers, Byblos was able to become a stand-alone brand by 1983.
